Today is June 11, 2021. It’s 7 am here in Estonia, and the morning is already well underway. This time of year, the sun rises at 4 am in this part of the world. It’s the best alarm clock ever!
I wondered, will I write a newsletter today? I had no real topic in mind, so I then decided to ask myself, what did I write about last year at this time?
I checked the newsletter archive and this is what I wrote on June 11, 2020: A Forward Thinking Workplace (View in the archive.)
My first reaction was one of surprise. How interesting that on this exact date last year, I was also reflecting on the past. Something told me I was headed down the right rabbit hole.
The first thing I wrote about in last year’s newsletter was the changes I wanted to make at Forward Thinking Workplaces. I wanted to put the primary focus back on the interviews and content. That intention resulted in moving the interviews from WordPress to the Ghost platform.
The migration to the new Forward Thinking Workplaces is about 40% complete. Every interview gets a fresh look and edit before it gets republished. I’m taking the time to do it right and make it better. The changes have resulted in a lot more engagement, so I’m pleased with that outcome.
The next thing I wrote about was looking back at an article published in the Cutter Business Technology Journal on the Forward Thinking Workplace. It was interesting to me that even though it was published in 2017, I wouldn’t change a thing. That assertion still largely stands today.
However, what has changed is my perspective on this work and what it all means.
In the past month, my thinking has been greatly influenced by the work of Emily Soccorsy, Justin Foster, and the team at Root + River. Emily and Justin are branding experts, but with a different perspective. Their signature branding message is: Every great brand is a spiritual experience.
When I first read that message, it lit up every cell in my being. My work has been a deeply spiritual experience. I’ve been longing to come up with a better way to communicate the essence of my work and what I do.
After hundreds of iterations and many conversations with colleagues, I believe I finally arrived at a statement that communicates my most exciting belief. The best message I can articulate at this time on what my work at Forward Thinking Workplaces is all about is:
This new message has set many new things in motion. One of which is what may become a monthly new webinar event.
The first session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11 am US Eastern time, which is 4 pm GMT. You can learn more and register at this link.
My new thinking on branding has also influenced my work that has become Space Beyond Boundaries from which this newsletter is published.
Typically, I find that I have two audiences. One audience is open to Forward Thinking but not quite ready to embrace the inner dimensions of change that my work has set in motion for me and that this newsletter addresses.
So for now, I’m choosing to keep them separate, but I will address this soon in an upcoming newsletter. But if you’re curious, the new changes can be seen at spacebeyondboundaries.com.
As always, I look forward to your feedback and replies. Please note that there is a new comment feature available at the online version (link at top) of this newsletter if you care to share your comments in this forum.
To your forward thinking life & success!
